We’re delighted to publish today our joint Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) position statement which we coproduced with education and health professionals. The purpose of the statement is to make sure there are consistent messages and a shared understanding about PDA across the local authority, schools, health, and the forum, so that children and their families can be supported as best as possible.

The position statement is the result of really positive and productive interaction between all the people involved in the working group, and we hope to have more opportunities like this in the future.

We’d also like to say a massive thank you to our parent carer rep, Erika Freeman, and our vice chair, Jo Nye, for their fantastic input on this project.

The working group was formed as a sub-group of the Autism Pathway Review and Implementation Group (APRIG) and came about as a result of parent carer feedback to the forum.
